Over the past two years, one of our volleyball families, the McCandless family, has been supporting their youngest daughter, Kaelyn, battle cancer. Kaelyn has been fighting like a warrior, while always maintaining a bright smile on her face.
Two weeks ago, Kaelyn was diagnosed with Leptomeningeal Carcinomatosis, a rare complication of cancer. Together with her older siblings Cabel, Hara, Shay, Finn, Delaney, and Riley as well as her parents Lynne and Tom, Kaelyn is determined to be the that miracle that beats it.
You can help too.
Its time for the Academy Volleyball family - and all those from the greater volleyball community - to come together and help support the McCandless family as they help their daughter in this fight. There are a number of ways that you can support:
Attend the Adelphi Women’s Volleyball Game
Date: Friday, September 28, 2018
Time: 7pm vs. The College of Saint Rose
Location: Adelphi Center for Recreation and Sports (map)
How you can help: Come down to watch the game. ALL of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the McCandless family - let’s pack the house to the roof!
Attend the Queens College Women’s Volleyball Game
Date: Saturday, October 6, 2018
Location: Queens College Fitzgerald Gymnasium (map)
How you can help: Come down to watch the game. ALL of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the McCandless family - once again - let’s pack the house to the roof!
Purchase a T-Shirt
Academy Volleyball will be selling special t-shirts ($20) to support Kaelyn and the McCandless family. You can purchase your t-shirt at either of the women’s college games listed above as well as at the Lindenhurst Volleyball Tournament on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Lindenhurst High School.
Above all, please send thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes of any kind to Kaelyn and the entire McCandless family to help support them in this fight.
