IMPORTANT NEWS & INFORMATION
FROM ACADEMY VOLLEYBALL

WELCOME to Issue #2 of the Academy News

Welcome to the second edition of the Academy News, our newsletter-style communication designed to help keep our athletes and parents informed during the course of the season. In this issue, we feature two of our boys alumni who are currently seeing action at the NCAA Division 1 level, return to play scenario for club and high school, as well as follow-up tips that came directly from our college planning seminar. Take a look and be sure to reach out to your coaches and directors if you need any additional information.

WE GET TO… Get Excited
about High School Volleyball!

While plans are still in the works it does look like High School volleyball in Nassau and Suffolk County are going to happen. As more information becomes available please know that our Board of Directors are in communication with many of the coaches in both counties and are working together to make sure that players get to enjoy the experience of high school sports again, while also allowing for the training and exposure of club sports with as little overlap as possible.

INTRA-SQUAD SCRIMMAGES BEGIN!

We have some great news! Academy is getting ready showcase the abilities of our athletes through Skills and Intra-Squad Scrimmage sessions. We will be focusing on our 17s and 18s to start as the sessions are being designed for the purposes of helping our players get recruited and will share more information on that shortly. Younger age groups will follow. Since workouts are still not open to spectators, we’re excited to announce a new service that we are providing to our athletes and their families - Sporfie. Our showcases will be live-streamed via Sporfie, but what’s more is that parents will not only be able to view from home, but will also be able to create custom highlights for their own athlete right through the website! Stay tuned for more information!

BOYS HEADED TO BANE!

We are excited to announce that some of our boys teams have been cleared to participate in the Boys Atlantic Northeastern Volleyball Tournament (a USA Volleyball BID tournament) in Pennsylvania within the coming weeks in February. This marks our first tournament since quarantine began last March. Be assured, that we are strictly following all safety protocols as they have been established by the CDC, USA Volleyball, and the Keystone Region Volleyball Association. Please talk to your coach for more details about this tournament.

JACK DRISCOLL & TREY COLE MAKING AN IMPACT ON THE NCAA DIVISION I LEVEL

We’re excited to share that two of our Academy Alumni; Jack Driscoll (2019) and Trey Cole (2020) are finding success at the NCAA Division 1 level. Driscoll, a sophomore setter/right side at Penn State University, just helped Penn State complete a sweep over Ohio State University with 11 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs, and 1 block. Cole, a Freshmen Libero at Pepperdine University, just helped Pepperdine complete a sweep over Concordia with 23 digs and 5 assists. Cole was also named Off The Block’s National Freshman of the Week as well as the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week! Way to go Jack and Trey!

COLLEGE PLANNING NIGHT TAKE-AWAYS

Thank you to all who attended our College Night Seminar this past Sunday night. We believe that one of the things that continues to set Academy Volleyball apart from other clubs is our ability to help our student athletes through this exciting, and sometimes stressful time. We are fortunate enough to have college coaches and administrators on our staff who live this process on a daily basis. Their insight is your advantage. Your coaches as well as the club directors are here to answer questions and provide support along the way.

The goal of this process if to find the BEST FIT between you and a coach/institution. Think about what you are looking to get out of the college process from an academic/athletic/social standpoint. Academy Volleyball is here to help by providing you with expertise and guidance, helping you finding the right fit.

All athletes planning to continue playing in college should start having conversations with their head coaches.
