MATT DISTEFANO (DEZY) - DIRECTOR & COACH

Coach DiStefano has over 15 years of Coaching Experience. He served as the Varsity Head Coach at Sachem North from 2004-2006.  In that time his program reached the County Finals and won a Division Championship.  He was selected as the Suffolk County Coach of the Year in 2004.  Coach DiStefano left Sachem to accept the position of Assistant Coach at Division II Dowling College.  Dowling went on to earn a national ranking and made it to the NCAA Elite 8.  After a successful year in collegiate volleyball Coach DiStefano returned to Sachem as the Varsity Assistant Coach and has worked alongside Coach Matt Rivera for the last 8 years.  In that time the Sachem Program has won 3 Division Titles, a County Championship, a Long Island Championship and the 2014 NYS Championship.

Coach DiStefano played High School Volleyball for Coach Bill Kropp at Sachem High School where he won 2 Suffolk County Championships and 2 County MVP Awards.  He played collegiate volleyball at Mount St. Vincent where his team earned a national ranking all 4 years.  He was named Conference player of the year and inducted into the Northeastern Collegiate Volleyball Association Hall of Fame in April 2011.  His jersey was also retired at the College of Mount St. Vincent.  Coach DiStefano has also been a member of the Empire State Games representing Long Island for 14 years, winning 2 gold medals.
